Her Forever Home

Her Forever Home

Thanks to the legacy-preserving efforts of the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, along with four exceptional Black artists - contemporary artist Adam Pendleton, painter and sculptor Rashid Johnson, collagist and film-maker Ellen Gallagher, and the iconic abstract artist Julie Mehretu - the childhood home of legendary singer-activist Nina Simone has been restored. The humble home in Tryon, North Carolina may soon serve, among other ways, as a heritage site, arts hub, and community space for reflection. This is how we do it, fam.
